Silvis School District Preschool Programs
The Silvis School District offers two preschool programs:
- Special Education Preschool (ECE) classes for children with identified disabilities that require specialized instruction, small classroom settings, and intensive services.
- The Hand in Hand (HIH) Preschool program, an at-risk preschool program.
The HIH program is a grant funded preschool program that serves 50 students, ages 3-5, who are identified, through a preschool screening, as being students that could benefit from this program. The HIH program provides a half-day, 5 days per week preschool program, with class sizes of no more than 20 students per class. An experienced, certified preschool teacher and an experienced, certified teaching assistant provide instruction in the classroom. Once the program is full, children are placed on a waiting list.
Screenings for the HIH program are held in March, May, and July in Silvis School District.Throughout the rest of the school year, screenings take place throughout the community. Please contact Mrs. Melissa VanDam or Mrs. Gail Staples at 792-0639 extension 190, or fill out the form below for more information regarding preschool screening or our programs.
